Discover the surprising diversity of the Wageningen area during a fully arranged 5-day walking holiday. You will stay for four nights at Hotel Wander and walk through forests, across vast heathlands, past country estates and castles, and through the floodplains of the Lower Rhine.

The best thing about this package? You decide how active you want your holiday to be. Choose to walk two, three or even all four routes, covering almost 70 kilometres in total. On the first and third evening, you will also enjoy a delicious 3-Course dinner at Brass Beau. Little treats have been taken care of too, with a bottle of bubbles in your room, Wander Sweet Treats, a portion of bitterballen and a takeaway for your walk.

After each day of walking, return to Hotel Wander and relax before the next stage of your adventure.

Day 1 | Arrival

Thanks to the included early check-in, you are welcome at Hotel Wander from 12:00. Settle into your Plant Leaf Twin Room at your leisure and toast to the days ahead with the bottle of bubbles waiting for you in your room.

In the evening, enjoy a delicious 3-Course dinner at Brass Beau.

Day 2 | Wageningse Berg & Belmonte Arboretum (approx. 15.5 km)

After breakfast, your first day of walking begins in the beautiful countryside surrounding Wageningen. Walk along the edge of the forest and across the moraine, alternating between sandy paths, fields and country estates. Beautiful views and the area's cultural and historic landscape provide plenty of variety along the way.

A special highlight is the Belmonte Arboretum on the Wageningse Berg. This botanical garden of more than 10 hectares is home to remarkable collections of trees, shrubs and plants. From its southern edge, you can also enjoy beautiful panoramic views over the Lower Rhine and the Betuwe countryside. The arboretum is open daily from sunrise to sunset.

Afterwards, return to Hotel Wander and enjoy a free evening to choose a cosy restaurant of your liking.

Day 3 | Ginkelse Heide (approx. 19.9 km)

Today, a wonderful day of walking on the Veluwe awaits. The route takes you across the Ginkelse Heide, where vast heathlands and surrounding greenery dominate the landscape. At almost 20 kilometres, this is a rewarding full-day walk, while the route itself has relatively little elevation gain.

After returning to Hotel Wander, you will once again enjoy a 3-Course dinner at Brass Beau.

Day 4 | To Doorwerth Castle (approx. 19.6 km)

Today combines nature with history. Walk through the green countryside towards Doorwerth Castle, passing special places such as Oranje Nassau's Oord and the Renkumse Beekdal, where the water flows towards the Rhine. With more than 200 metres of elevation gain, this is the most challenging walk of the holiday.

Be sure to take some time to visit Doorwerth Castle along the way. The castle is normally open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00, with last admission at 16:00. Admission is not included in the package. Regular admission is currently €15 per adult, while Museum Card holders enjoy free admission during regular opening hours. Always check the latest opening hours and admission prices in advance.

Day 5 | Lexesveer circular walk via De Blauwe Kamer (approx. 14.7 km)

Still eager to walk? On the final day, swap the forests and heathlands for the expansive river landscape of the Lower Rhine. This relatively flat route follows mostly paved roads alongside the river's floodplains. With only 31 metres of elevation gain, this is the most relaxing walk of the package.

The route takes you through the area around De Blauwe Kamer and Lexesveer. At 14.7 kilometres, it is a wonderful way to round off four completely different days of walking.

Everything is taken care of during your stay. You can park for free at Hotel Wander and easily navigate from the hotel to the various walking routes. An extensive breakfast awaits you every morning, and you will receive a convenient takeaway for your walk.

Thanks to the late check-out until 14:00, you can also make the most of your final day.
