Day 2 | Ginkelse Heide (approx. 19.9 km)
After breakfast, put on your walking shoes for a beautiful hike across the Ginkelse Heide. Vast heathlands and surrounding greenery provide the backdrop for this almost 20-kilometre walk. With only limited elevation changes, it is a wonderful route for taking in the characteristic Veluwe landscape.
Afterwards, return to Hotel Wander and enjoy a free evening to choose a cosy restaurant of your liking.
Day 3 | To Doorwerth Castle (approx. 19.6 km)
Today combines nature, history and plenty of variety. The route takes you through the green countryside towards Doorwerth Castle, passing Oranje Nassau's Oord and the Renkumse Beekdal, which flows into the Rhine. With more than 200 metres of elevation gain, this is the most challenging walk of the package.
Doorwerth Castle is a beautiful destination along the way and is certainly worth a visit. The castle is normally open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00, with last admission at 16:00. Admission to the castle is not included in the package. Regular admission is currently €15 per adult; Museum Card holders enjoy free admission during regular opening hours. Always check the latest opening hours and admission prices before departure.
After returning to Hotel Wander, you will once again enjoy a 3-Course dinner at Brass Beau.
Day 4 | Wageningse Berg & Belmonte Arboretum (approx. 15.5 km)
Still eager to walk? On the final day, discover the beautiful countryside surrounding Wageningen. Walk along the edge of the forest and across the moraine, with sandy paths, fields, country estates and beautiful panoramic views along the way.
A special highlight is the Belmonte Arboretum on the Wageningse Berg. This botanical garden of more than 10 hectares is renowned for its remarkable trees, shrubs and plants, while its southern side offers beautiful views across the Lower Rhine and the Betuwe region. The arboretum is open 365 days a year, from sunrise to sunset.
At 15.5 kilometres, this route is a wonderful way to round off three varied days of walking. Thanks to the late check-out until 14:00, you also have extra time to make the most of your final day.
Everything is taken care of during your stay. You can park for free at Hotel Wander and easily navigate from the hotel to the various walking routes. An extensive breakfast awaits you every morning, and you will receive a convenient takeaway for your walk.
