Enjoying a unique location right on the river Vecht! A stay at De Zon Hotel & Restaurant is complete enjoyment. The hotel is located in the center of Ommen, the stores are within walking distance. Not only is De Zon known for its hospitality and beautiful location on the Vecht, De Zon also upholds its name in the culinary field. The chef and his brigade like to use seasonal and regional products with which the cooking style seamlessly connects to what De Zon is known for: cooking with beautiful products from the region; the Vechtdal.

Ommen is a picturesque town in the Vechtdal, located on the Overijsselse Vecht. The beautiful surroundings are perfect for beautiful walking and cycling tours through the many forests. Explore Ommen from the Vecht with a lounge sloop while enjoying a glass of wine. There are several museums in the area if you like culture, such as the Streekmuseum Ommen and the Anton Pieck Museum in Hattem. You can enjoy shopping in the cozy center or in the historic Hanseatic city of Zwolle.

During the summer season (April through October) you can lounge while enjoying a drink at Sun Beach Ommen, a lovely place by the water. Enjoy the Vecht with a sloop or on a paddle board.

National Tin Figures Museum

Art, craft and history; it all comes together at the Tin Figure Museum. In the tin figure museum the figures depict fairy tales, myths and historical stories. There is a collection of more than 100,000 tin figures of all shapes and sizes on display. The museum, located in the old city hall, near the bridge over the Overijsselse Vecht, where the tin figures tell stories about fairy tales, myths, fantasy and all kinds of history. Closed on Mondays.

Krishnamurti - Walking along forgotten paths

A circular walk through a beautiful, varied landscape, past places that played a role during the Star Camps in the 1920s and 1930s. The man around whom everything revolved was Jiddu Krishnamurti. A new spiritual world center was to be founded around this person. Ommen was the place where this was to happen, where world history was to be written. At the reception desk you can get more information about the walking guide with nature descriptions and historical background information. The walking tour passes by Landgoed Het Laer, Castle Eerde, authentic farms, hushed fens and surprising vistas. The walk is 15 kilometers long (can also be walked in sections). Starting and finishing point of the walk is NS-station Ommen.
