The Slufter is the best known nature reserve on Texel, is located on the north side of Texel between the Muy and the Eierlandse Dunes and is a large salt marsh area between two sand dikes. The special thing about this place is surely that this salt marsh lies on the North Sea coast and creeks with salt water flow right through the area. When it storms from the northwest, the area floods and plants grow that can only tolerate salt water. In the summer, the plain is purple and sea lavender blooms, among other things.
