In the heart of Bronkhorst, the smallest town in the Netherlands, you will find the charming Hotel Restaurant Herberg de Gouden Leeuw. The hotel is located directly opposite the restored Castle Chapel of Bronkhorst Castle, dating back to 1344. Bronkhorst was granted city rights in 1482 and, with around 150 inhabitants, is the smallest town in the Netherlands. Besides the rich history of Bronkhorst, there is plenty to discover in the surroundings of Herberg de Gouden Leeuw.

Originally, this historic property consisted of three separate buildings: the mayor’s residence from 1575, the town farmhouse from 1650 and the horse mill from 1750. Today, these three monumental buildings have been fully renovated and modernised, creating a warm and comfortable inn where historic charm and modern hospitality come together.
Bronckhorst was also named the Netherlands’ Walking Municipality of 2018, making it a unique destination for nature lovers. The region is rich in attractions, including several castles such as Keppel Castle and no fewer than nine castles in nearby Vorden.
