Discover the surprising diversity of the Wageningen area during a fully arranged 5-day walking holiday. You will stay for four nights at Hotel Wander and walk through forests, across vast heathlands, past country estates and castles, and through the floodplains of the Lower Rhine.
The best thing about this package? You decide how active you want your holiday to be. Choose to walk two, three or even all four routes, covering almost 70 kilometres in total. On the first and third evening, you will also enjoy a delicious 3-Course dinner at Brass Beau. Little treats have been taken care of too, with a bottle of bubbles in your room, Wander Sweet Treats, a portion of bitterballen and a takeaway for your walk.
After each day of walking, return to Hotel Wander and relax before the next stage of your adventure.

Day 1 | Arrival
Thanks to the included early check-in, you are welcome at Hotel Wander from 12:00. Settle into your Plant Leaf Twin Room at your leisure and toast to the days ahead with the bottle of bubbles waiting for you in your room.
In the evening, enjoy a delicious 3-Course dinner at Brass Beau.
Day 2 | Wageningse Berg & Belmonte Arboretum (approx. 15.5 km)
After breakfast, your first day of walking begins in the beautiful countryside surrounding Wageningen. Walk along the edge of the forest and across the moraine, alternating between sandy paths, fields and country estates. Beautiful views and the area's cultural and historic landscape provide plenty of variety along the way.
A special highlight is the Belmonte Arboretum on the Wageningse Berg. This botanical garden of more than 10 hectares is home to remarkable collections of trees, shrubs and plants. From its southern edge, you can also enjoy beautiful panoramic views over the Lower Rhine and the Betuwe countryside. The arboretum is open daily from sunrise to sunset.
Afterwards, return to Hotel Wander and enjoy a free evening to choose a cosy restaurant of your liking.
Day 3 | Ginkelse Heide (approx. 19.9 km)
Today, a wonderful day of walking on the Veluwe awaits. The route takes you across the Ginkelse Heide, where vast heathlands and surrounding greenery dominate the landscape. At almost 20 kilometres, this is a rewarding full-day walk, while the route itself has relatively little elevation gain.
After returning to Hotel Wander, you will once again enjoy a 3-Course dinner at Brass Beau.
Day 4 | To Doorwerth Castle (approx. 19.6 km)
Today combines nature with history. Walk through the green countryside towards Doorwerth Castle, passing special places such as Oranje Nassau's Oord and the Renkumse Beekdal, where the water flows towards the Rhine. With more than 200 metres of elevation gain, this is the most challenging walk of the holiday.
Be sure to take some time to visit Doorwerth Castle along the way. The castle is normally open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00, with last admission at 16:00. Admission is not included in the package. Regular admission is currently €15 per adult, while Museum Card holders enjoy free admission during regular opening hours. Always check the latest opening hours and admission prices in advance.
Day 5 | Lexesveer circular walk via De Blauwe Kamer (approx. 14.7 km)
Still eager to walk? On the final day, swap the forests and heathlands for the expansive river landscape of the Lower Rhine. This relatively flat route follows mostly paved roads alongside the river's floodplains. With only 31 metres of elevation gain, this is the most relaxing walk of the package.
The route takes you through the area around De Blauwe Kamer and Lexesveer. At 14.7 kilometres, it is a wonderful way to round off four completely different days of walking.
Everything is taken care of during your stay. You can park for free at Hotel Wander and easily navigate from the hotel to the various walking routes. An extensive breakfast awaits you every morning, and you will receive a convenient takeaway for your walk.
Thanks to the late check-out until 14:00, you can also make the most of your final day.
The room is stylishly decorated and the mattresses are high quality, allowing you to wake up rested. Enjoy watching a Netflix series with the Free High Speed WiFi on your phone or iPad. The bathroom is equipped with lovely Rituals products and soft towels. Please note: The photos shown provide an impression of the room; layout, location or furnishings may vary slightly. Of course, the style, quality and atmosphere remain as you may expect from Hotel Wander.
Start your day in a relaxed way with the delicious breakfast at Hotel Wander. Enjoy a delicious 3-Course dinner at Brass Beau on the day of arrival and on the third evening of your stay. In a warm and contemporary setting, savour dishes lovingly prepared with local and sustainable ingredients. From a flavourful starter to an elegant dessert, every course is an ode to nature. Please note: the restaurant is closed on Sundays. If one of the dinners falls on a Sunday, it will be moved to another evening.
Something to celebrate or simply want to toast to a relaxing stay? Upon arrival, you will receive a delicious bottle of bubbly Prosecco in your room.
Between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, you can enjoy delicious Wander Sweet Treats every day. A delightful moment with sweet treats, perfect for a relaxing break during your stay.
Between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM, you can enjoy a delicious serving of bitterballen. The perfect savoury treat to relax and enjoy together during your stay.
During your stay, you will receive a take away package for your day out, consisting of a bottle of water, a candy bar and a piece of fruit. Perfect to take with you while exploring the area.
Come to the hotel extra early to make the most out of your visit. Check-in from 12:00 PM.
Upon departure, you can enjoy a late check-out until 1 PM, allowing you to start the last day of your visit fully rested. There's no need to rush with this service!
You can park your car for free in the car park in the grounds next to the hotel.
3 fun outings near Hotel Wander
National Park the Hoge Veluwe is not known as the greenest treasure trove of the Netherlands for nothing! The Veluwe is known for its beautiful natural surroundings with endless forests and many different animal species. Put on your hiking boots and take a nice walk. This is the best way to explore the nature reserve and you have the greatest chance of seeing animals.
A weekend in Wageningen? Good idea! You will have a great time in this cozy college town. Wageningen is the city where the German capitulation was signed on May 5, 1945. The liberation is celebrated exuberantly every year with performances and the liberation parade, a parade of World War II veterans. Normally on May 5, Wageningen is thus by far the liveliest city in the Netherlands, but during the rest of the year there is also plenty to do. The university town in Gelderland has about 40,000 inhabitants, many of whom are students who provide a lot of fun. In the compact center you will find plenty of tasty addresses for a bite to eat and a drink. There is also plenty to see and do in the beautiful surroundings of Wageningen. The city is beautifully situated on the Lower Rhine, between the Betuwe and the Veluwe and close to the Utrechtse Heuvelrug.
Fancy a boating excursion? Then step aboard the Blauwe Bever. This safari ship sails out regularly from April through October for a riverbank cruise on the Lower Rhine. The boat sails from Wageningen to the weir and lock complex at Driel and along the way a guide tells you about the sights and flora and fauna along the river.

I want to cancel a package
You can cancel your booking within the cancellation period, in which case you will receive a refund of the package amount and a voucher for the booking fee. You will find the cancellation deadline in the third step of the booking process. Via the 'cancel booking' button in the booking confirmation e-mail, you can cancel the booking yourself if you are still within the cancellation period.
Nearly all our packages can be cancelled up to 24 hours before the day of arrival. However, for some packages this is 48 or 72 hours before the day of arrival. The time of arrival does not matter for the cancellation period.
Great that you want to book multiple arrangements! That is certainly possible. An arrangement is for 2 people. In the second step of the booking process, you can add as many rooms to your booking as are available.

It is unfortunately not possible to change a booking (date). You must first cancel the existing booking via the 'cancel' button. You will find this button in the e-mail with the booking confirmation, which you received immediately after payment of your reservation. Can't find it? Check your junk mail and/or spam to be sure.
If you want to book an extra night you can, provided that we also offer the corresponding package for 1 night, book consecutively to your other booking. The same applies if you want to book two additional nights. If we do not offer the package for one night on the site, you can do this through the hotel. You pay the normal hotel rate. So unfortunately not with our valid discount.
For Room only bookings it is advisable to check availability via the website. It is however necessary to make a new booking.
It is not possible to adjust the package. However, there are a number of extras that can be booked during the booking process. The package cannot be changed in terms of duration and content. If you want to come with more than two people, you can add extra packages in the second step of the booking process.
